As I mentioned earlier, Transbay Blog will be taking a vacation for the near future, until I can scrape together enough time to start posting again. Ideally, there would be occasional but infrequent posting, but it’s not yet clear how much. At the same time, though, I do not want this blog to sit completely stagnant. The most important election of our lives may now be over, but that doesn’t mean we’ve run out of topics to discuss: far from it.
So the compromise solution I finally hit upon was to post links in the sidebar, with perhaps just a nugget of commentary, to relevant news articles. My intention is to update the news sidebar on a roughly daily basis. RSS subscribers, please note that because sidebar updates are not posts, they will not be monitored or picked up in the RSS feed; the only way to know if links have been added is to actually visit the site. About five to ten articles will appear in the sidebar at any one time, so check back frequently; they will cycle through, with the most recently retrieved articles at the top of the list.
any chance of making the recent news column its own RSS feed? so we can stay updated on everything easily…
I’m not sure how I’d generate an RSS feed for the news column, since the main blog feed is just updated automatically, and the posts are for things that are more substantial than just a quick news link. I’ll look into it, but for now, I’ll just try to keep news links up for a couple days and hope that most people will have clicked the link in that time.
Hi Eric, I just want to express my gratitude for all the posts that youve put up so far. Its nice that those of us who care about transit and are would like to know more about the sometimes ridiculous process that determines what gets built have a place to get good information. I hope you have more time on your hands soon!
