BART, Service Updates

Bay Bridge Construction Finishes Early

C.C. Myers, the contractor responsible for repairing the MacArthur Maze in record time just a few months ago, has done it again. Although the Bay Bridge was scheduled to reopen Tuesday, September 4 at 5:00 am, the Chronicle is reporting that the bridge is set to reopen in just 45 minutes, at 6:00 pm tonight — 11 hours in advance of the originally announced time. Let’s hope that no corners were cut and that we now have a seismically safer bridge.

Although official ridership numbers have not yet been released, BART spokesperson Linton Johnson is predicting that this weekend has broken all of BART’s previous ridership records. Big props to BART for carrying us through this holiday weekend, running continuously for 3 straight days (please note that there will be no extra overnight service tonight), and big props to all of you who left your cars at home this weekend and rode the rails instead!
