Temporary Terminal Referrals

I’ve gotten a couple email notes over the weekend from newer readers, wondering why the Transbay Blog has been apparently silent on an important Transbay-related issue: namely, the planning and upcoming construction of the temporary Transbay Terminal, which will be in use for about five years (from 2009 to 2014), while the new Transit Center is constructed.

There have been rumblings on the Internet about the temporary replacement terminal, in response to the public outreach meeting from last week, so to any newer readers who have stumbled upon this blog looking for information on the temporary terminal, I would like to direct you to a post I wrote a couple months ago on this issue. It provides a pretty full treatment of what the new terminal site (bounded by Beale, Main, Howard, and Folsom) will look like, as well as what the general traffic patterns will be around the perimeter of this quite constrained site.

Jamie, from the Rincon Hill Blog, also has posted some notes from the public outreach meeting on December 13.
