California will of course be requesting stimulus funds from the $8 billion assigned to high-speed rail in the federal stimulus bill, and potential smaller projects necessary for HSR have been submitted for consideration. California’s project is the furthest along (as compared to other potential HSR corridors around the country) and is in a good position to receive a good chunk of those funds, but it’s not clear exactly how much yet.
